VICKERS, STERLING ROBERT - It is with deep sadness that the family of Sterling Robert Vickers of Miramichi, NB, announces his passing on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the age of 69 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Barnettville, NB, on October 23, 1939, he was the son of the late George and Alice (Underhill) Vickers. Sterling was a member of St. James and St. John United Church, Newcastle, NB and a member of the Friends of the Ritchie Wharf. Sterling's career as a registered technician for Ford and a licensed T&T technician spanned nearly 50 years on the Miramichi River. Sterling is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years Sheila (MacDonald); five children: Daphne (Allen Parnell), Darwin (Bonnie), Janice (Randy) O'Shea all of Miramichi, Joy (Eric) Harper of Oshawa and Greg of Miramichi as well as five grandchildren: Robert and Alexander O'Shea, Jacob and Olivia Vickers and Zachary Bright. Sterling leaves behind his loving sister: Lois and brother: Cameron (Doris), all of Barnettville and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Thursday from 2-4 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. James and St. John United Church, Newcastle, on Thursday at 7 PM with Rev. John Fraser officiating.
