ALBERT KNAPPER
KNAPPER, ALBERT - On August 14, 2009 Albert died in the Palliative Unit at SPH after a short-lived and courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 6, 1942 in Moncton, N.B. Left to mourn are his loving wife of 37 years, Adeline; mother Phyllis; sister Mary (Doug); brother Terry (Janet); sons Jim, Brian (Lisa), Terry (Kara); daughter Kelly (Jack); adopted son and daughter Bernie and Lisa; grandchildren Kennedy, Erik, Wesley, Joe, Jacob, Adam, Melissa, Vanessa; and numerous nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and wives. Al joined the Air Force, stationed at Comox. Trained as an Electronic Tech and later became an Electrician. He and Adeline made their home in Saskatoon since 1975. He was a dedicated father and husband. He spent many hours on the ball diamonds and in hockey rinks helping his son's activities. Al played drums and loved his music. He enjoyed curling, especially the Briers, a good card game and shot many games of pool. He always made his home a welcome place to all his family and friends. He will be missed tremendously by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We would like to extend our very special thanks to the staff on Palliative Care and the kind and caring Pharmacists at Safeway. An honorable mention to Doctor Stakiw for his kind and caring ways that he has with his patients. Al was always so comfortable with you and your approach. Any donations can be made to the Palliative care unit at St Paul's Hospital or a charity of your choice. Vigil for Albert will be held on Tuesday August 18th at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 19, 2009 at St. Peter the Apostle Church (1121 Northumberland Avenue).
