HARVEY LENWOOD MCKAY

MCKAY, HARVEY LENWOOD - Harvey Lenwood McKay, 83 of Riverview, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, August 23rd, 2009. Born in Whitneyville, he was the son of the late Harvey and Elizabeth (Sherrard) McKay. Lenwood was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was a former employee of the CNR and the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. and retired from Lounsbury's Truck Division. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a Veteran of the Second World War, having served in Canada, United Kingdom and Continental Europe with the North Shore Regiment, Canadian Army and was a member of the Outdoor Enthusiast Group. Lenwood was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed fishing, cross country skiing, canoeing, hiking, camping, time at the family camp (Dover), painting but first and foremost was time with his family. Lenwood will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Marion Powell McKay; children, Karen Hicks (Philip), Truro, Brian McKay (Bill), Halifax, Kevin McKay (Carry), Moncton; grandchildren, Natasha Churchill (Amos), Michael Hicks (Jen), Tim Hicks (Crystal), Cole McKay; great grandchildren, Joshua and Joel Churchill, Dré, Lukas and Gavin Hicks, Hunter and Emali Hicks; sisters, Alberta Killam, ON; Marilyn Steeves (Peter), Riverview, Mae Venoit and Gordona Cullen, both of Saint John; sister in law, Ethel McKay, Moncton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by brothers and sisters, Roy, James, Juanita, Donalda and Yvonne. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Moncton Legion #6 Veterans Service, Tuesday at 4 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, August 26, 2009, 3:30 pm. Pastor-Dr. Tim Friesen officiating. Reception following the service in the Funeral Home Reception Center. Interment, Alderwood Cemetery, Riverview.
