MARION PAULINE (HENRY) ALWARD

ALWARD, MARION PAULINE (HENRY) - 1918-2009 - Surrounded by family, Marion Pauline (Henry) Alward, passed away at Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Saturday, August 22, 2009. She celebrated her 91st birthday with family and friends on August 13th. Born on Scott Road, Westmorland County, NB. in 1918, she was the ninth child of the late Walter J. and Joanna (Lounsbury) Henry. She graduated from Moncton High and Robinson's (Oulton's) Business College. Marion was an active member of numerous committees which included the Teller Board, Visiting/Social Planning and the WMS (Women's Missionary Group) at Highfield Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Lions Senior Citizens Club. She worked at Eaton's prior to her marriage. Marion was an AVON sales representative for several years. Rain or snow did not keep Marion from delivering products to her customers. Marion will be fondly remembered by her friends for her sense of humor and infectious smile! She had no formal musical training, however, Marion was a beautiful piano player. Her musical abilities were passed on to each of her children. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Alward of Moncton and Gail Gould (William) of Fredericton; her sons, Daryl of Fredericton, Sterling of Fort MacLeod, AB and Gary (Andrea) of Vancouver, BC; five grandchildren, Marion, Ronald, Judy, Barry and Heather; eight great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George; eldest son, Walter; daughter-in-law, Grace; sisters, Jean Black, Blanche Dunlop, Edith Doucette and Ruth Simonds; and brothers, David, Horace, Albert and James Henry. Marion was the last surviving member of her immediate family. At Marion's request, there will be no visitation. A Private Family Memorial Service including her friends from Highfield Baptist Church will be held on Thursday, August 27th from Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel, Lutz St. Moncton with friend, Don Clouston, officiating. Interment will be at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Salisbury Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Society, Breast Cancer, Heart and Stroke Foundation and K.E. Spencer Memorial Home or to a charitable organization of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
