JOSEPH IROIS MELANSON
MELANSON, JOSEPH IROIS - 1927 - 2009 - Cocagne, NB - Joseph Irois Melanson, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009 at the Moncton City Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint-Antoine on June 1st, 1927, he was the son of the late François and Zita (Allain) Melanson. He was a retired carpenter by trade. Joseph was a Korean War veteran. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, music, playing 200 and crib, gardening, laughing and joking. He will sadly be missed by all who knew him for his good humor, caring and giving nature. Joseph is survived by his wife, Corinne (Bastarache); two sons, Michael and Mark both of Cocagne; one daughter, Sylvia (Junior Gauvin) of Dieppe; two brothers, Ernest (late Lorraine) of Moncton, Clarence (Simone) of Lancaster, Mass.; three sisters, Azélie LeBlanc (late Edgar), Léda Maillet (late Lionel) both of Saint-Antoine and Léona Robichaud (late Antoine) of Sainte-Marie; and also several very special brothers and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by two brothers, Antoine and John; two sisters, Yvonne and Hélène. Visitation at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Friday, September 4th, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will take place at St-Pierre-de-Cocagne RC Church in Cocagne on Saturday morning, September 5th at 9 am. Donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
