J. GORDON BALLOCH
BALLOCH, J. GORDON - J. Gordon Balloch, 86, of the Veterans' Health Centre and formerly of Shediac Rd. Moncton, with his loving wife by his side, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, September 11th, 2009. Born in Scobey, Montana, USA, he was the son of the late J.F.R. (Jack) and Elizabeth (Service) Balloch. Gordon spent his 36 year career with the Bank of Montreal in postings throughout the Maritimes and retired after 16 years as manager of the Moncton Botsford and Main St. branch. He was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School and CBA of Queens University. Gordon was a devout member of St. George's Anglican Church, former Rotarian, member of the Moncton Golf and Country Club, Moncton Curlers' Association, City Club, active member of the NB Scottish Association and Probus Club. He was a charter member of the Spryfield NS Lions Club, was treasurer of the Moncton Cancer Society for many years, the United Way and life member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. A Veteran of the Second World War, Gordon served three years in Canada, United Kingdom and the occupational force in Holland and Germany with the Canadian Army. He was a member of the Moncton Legion Branch #6 and the North Shore Regiment Association. Gordon will be sadly missed by his wife Virginia (Trueman) Balloch; daughter, Karen Tremblay (Roger), Fredericton; sons, Robert (Nelly), Riverview; Bruce (Sharon), Ardoise, NS; step-daughter, Charlotte Sullivan, England; step- sons, Kevin and Philip Sullivan, both of Toronto, ON; Andrew Sullivan (Sharon), Sault Ste. Marie, ON; grandchildren, Rebecca, Eric, Jonah, Sarah, John; step-grandchildren, Christine, Daniel, Gavin, Kyle, Rory, Ashley, Winston, Adrian; great grandchild, Brody; sister, Joan Shelly (William), Toronto, ON; niece, Dallas McLean, Mississauga, ON. In addition to his parents, predeceased by his first wife, Jean Elaine (Mader) Balloch (1990) and sister Helen McLean. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road Moncton (858-1995), Monday 7th to 9 pm. Moncton Legion Branch #6 Veterans Service Monday 6:45 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, Moncton on Tuesday, September 15th, 2009, 1:30 pm. Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating. Reception following the service in the church hall. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. The family is grateful for the comfort and loving care received from the staff of Veterans' Health Centre in Moncton where he was a resident the past year.
