PHILLIPS, DOROTHY I. - 90, of Moncton and formerly of Toronto, ON, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 following a brief illness. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Augusta (Groundwater) Welling. Dorothy was a former secretary to a Dean at York University in Toronto and attended Highfield Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, watching golf and game shows on television, playing Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, crypto quotes and drives in the country to view the autumn colors. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her nephew, Robert Welling, Moncton; close friend, Lloyd O'Brien, Montreal and his four sons, Terry, Colin, Derek, Alan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James G. Phillips (November 1999) and her brother, Lloyd Welling. No visitation by personal request. A Celebration of Life Service for Dorothy will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Monday, October 5, 2009, 1:00 pm, Rev. Jonathan Steeper officiating. Refreshments following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In Dorothy's memory, donations to a memorial of choice would be appreciated.
