GEORGIUS (GERRY) BOS

BOS, GEORGIUS (GERRY) - 83, of Second North River, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital. Gerry was born on October 25, 1925 in Ter Idzard, Holland. In 1951 he came to Canada with his brother John to explore a new land and find a place to put down roots. He returned to Holland in 1954 to marry Siene and then they immigrated to Canada. Over time together they built up their farm, Boscenic Hog Farms on the Fredericton Road. He loved the land and took great interest in the endeavours of his children. When he retired from farming he continued to live on the farm and provided expertise and support at the farm and at the cabinet door factory. He was a member of St. Judes Parish in Salisbury and enjoyed many hobbies including playing cards and was an avid bowler and belonged to the Golden Agers and the Golden Jets Bowling League. He was a director in the Co-operative movement for many years. Gerry is survived by his wife of 55 years Siene (Veldman); three daughters Elsie (David), Bernice (Dwayne), Fay (John); three sons Ralph (Linda), Otto (Deanna), John (Janice); 16 grandchildren Karina, Ryan, Christine, Matthew, Justin, Alisha, Ashley, Jerry, Kathleen, Kevin, Melanie, Corey, Brett, Morgan, Jaryd and Madison; he is also survived by one brother Jopie and three sisters Alie, Lies and Rosa, locally a sister in law Roelie Bos and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grandson Barry Ralph, his parents Roelof and Berta (Akker); sisters Femie and Marie; brothers John, Hendrik and Berend. Special thanks are extended to the nurses, doctors, chaplain and therapists of Unit 3600 and the Palliative Care Unit of the Moncton Hospital. Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800), visitation Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm with Parish Prayers and Memory Sharing at 8:30 pm. The family would appreciate a scent free environment. The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 14 at 11 am from the St Judes Roman Catholic Church Salisbury with Rev. Phil Mulligan officiating. There will be a reception following the service. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Gerry was a very practical person and in lieu of flowers, if desired, memorials to the NB Lung Association or Jordan Life Care Centre would be appreciated in his memory. www.keirsteads.ca
