GAUTREAU, J. ALFRED - J. Alfred "Freddie", 85, of Moncton, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital following a sudden illness. Born April 13, 1924 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Denis and Lucianne (Melanson) Gautreau. Alfred retired from CN as Traffic Systems Coordinator for the Atlantic Region after a 41 year career and was a member of the CN Pensionners Association. He also played in the Senior Baseball League, coached Jr. Baseball, and also played college hockey. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 59 years, Doris (Kearns) Gautreau; three children: Paul (late Lin) of Oakville, ON, Julie Mann of Middleton, NS, and Carolyn Gautreau of Moncton; three grandchildren: Sarah, Emma, and Michael Mann; two sisters: Nelda Gautreau of Riverview, and Bernadette Magee (late Fred) of Moncton, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters: Yvonne Boudreau and Irene Gautreau. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard's R.C. Church, Moncton, on Thursday, November 12th at 2 pm followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
