DOWNEY, MARIE M. - 1937 - 2009 - Marie M. Downey, age 71 years of Riverview, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Born in Little Ridge (New Horton), NB; she was the daughter of the late Murray and Pearl (Knowlton) Kennie. She was a longtime member of the Sunny Brae Baptist Church. Marie was a member of the WMS and a recipient of the U.B.W.M.W. Missionary Pin for her years of service. She was a member of the Braesiders and an active member in the community, always willing to give a helping hand. A dedicated mother and a loving grandmother, sister and friend; she will be lovingly remembered by sons Sean Downey (Kim) of Moncton and Shane Downey (Marica) of Weldon, NB; grandchildren Megan, Anita and Tessica; sisters Edna Butland of Shepody, NB and Shirley Peters (Ralph) of Moncton; brother Garnet Kennie (Karine) of Calgary; brother in law Donald Downey of Saint John; sisters in law Myrna Burgoyne of Toronto and Eleanor Scott of Sackville; also by several aunts, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband William L. Downey in 1996 and by her brother in law Edmund Butland. Resting at the Sunny Brae Baptist Church (85 Elmwood Drive, Moncton) on Friday, November 27th, 2009 from 7 to 9 pm and Saturday, November 28th, 2009 from 10 am to 12 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Sunny Brae Baptist Church on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 12 pm with Rev. Colin Cook officiating. Interment will take place in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Marie, made to the Sunny Brae Baptist Church Memorial Fund or charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by her family.
