PETITPAS, JOSEPH "HENRI" - 1923-2009 - Joseph Petitpas, 86, of Dieppe, passed away on Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 at his residence. Born in Moncton, he was the adopted son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Bruno Bastarache. Prior to retirement, Mr. Petitpas worked as a custodian at Dieppe schools. Besides his love of gardening, his friends and family were important to him. He was a very social person who enjoyed a good laugh and a cup of tea - a laugh that could be heard from a distance, often at Tim Hortons. He is survived by his wife, Lina (née: Melanson); four daughters: Stella (Bernard) Foran of Irishtown, Jeanne (late Richard) Brophy of Saint John, Maria (Roland) Drisdelle of Dieppe and Ginette (Brock) Petitpas-Taylor of Moncton; five sons: Gerald of Moncton, Armand (Andréa) of Dieppe, Sanford (Suzanne) of Moncton, Hubert (Marie-Reine) of Grand Lake and Reginald (Louise) of Shediac Bridge; two sisters: his twin Marie LeBlanc of Dieppe and Lilianne Vetter of Riverview; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandson as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his adoptive parents, he was also predeceased by his biological parents: Dominique and Pricille Petitpas; one sister, Evelyn and also by one brother, Jimmy. Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, (857-1901), on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm, Friday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Saturday from 10 am until time of departure. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Saint-Anselme R.C.C., Dieppe, NB on Saturday, December 12th, 2009 at 11 am. Interment in the Saint-Anselme Parish Cemetery.
