RONALD LORNE COLPITTS

COLPITTS, RONALD LORNE - 76, of Salisbury passed away peacefully Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Salisbury he was a son of Katherine (Mollins) Colpitts and the late Alden Colpitts. Ron retired as a second generation owner-operator of Colpitts Woodworkers-Home Hardware in Salisbury and had served on numerous boards and committees in the hardware association. He was one of the last wood window sash makers in the area often called upon for unique replacements. Ron had a passion for recreational flying and had held his pilot's license for many years. He was a member of the Havelock and Moncton flying clubs and was a former board member of the Moncton Flight Center. He was a longtime active member of the Salisbury Lions Club having served in many capacities including Secretary and Past President and was a past District Governor of 41N1 Lions International and attended many Lions International Conventions worldwide where he made many lifelong friendships. He had served as an executive member of the former Salisbury Minor Hockey Association and was a former volunteer driver with the Salisbury St. John Ambulance. He served as a former councilor with the village of Salisbury and the local Town Planning Committee and enjoyed his morning coffee fellowship at the takeout. Rest and relaxation came at the family cottage in Little River. Survived by his mother Katherine of the Jordan Lifecare Center; his beloved wife of 53 years Shirley (Bleakney); sons Wayne (Heather) of Riverview, Brent (Kathy) and Keith of Salisbury, Bradley of Upper Coverdale; grandchildren Tyler, Amy, Alex, Laura and Evan, great grandaughter Katie; sisters Connie Fawcett(Vernon) of Oakville On., Myrna Lewis (Arnold) of Colpitts Settlement, Marilyn Colpitts (George Lutes) of River Glade, Brenda-Lee Colpitts of Sidney B.C., Ruth Colpitts (Fred Wheaton) of Moncton and his brother Vaughn (Marie) of Salisbury. Survived also by his father in law Conrad Bleakney, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his mother in law Elsie Bleakney; daughter in law Betty-Anne Colpitts. Resting at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Wednesday 1 to 3 pm and 6 to 9 pm. The Funeral will be held from the Salisbury Baptist Church on Thursday, December 31 at 2 pm with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. A reception will follow at the Salisbury Lions Club, Peter Street. Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Salisbury. If desired memorials to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. www.keirsteads.ca
