ROBERT (BOB) BLAKNEY

BLAKNEY, ROBERT (BOB) - Robert (Bob) Thomas Blakney, passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, January 10, 2010 surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness at the age of 62. Born in Moncton he was the son of Irene (Dollie) (Beers) and the late Herbert Blakney. From a young age Bob was driving trucks and for the last number of years, he had the privilege of being self employed as a dump truck driver, always wanting to stay close to home as he loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Darlene (Steeves) Blakney, daughter; Nicki McKay (Billy), son Darren (Chantel), grandchildren Colton, Hannah, Maggie, Skylar, brothers; Don (Gloria), Harold (Donna), Lloyd, Hamish (Lois), sisters; Jean Mollins (Dave), Freda Wilson (David). Besides his father he was predeceased by sister in law Sue. The family will be receiving friends and visitors at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Tuesday, January 12, from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Cobb's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Wednesday January 13 at 1:00pm, with Rev. Brent Ham officiating. The interment will take place at Gray's Island Cemetery at a later date. Donation to the Friends of the Moncton Foundation (Neurology Department) or the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
