MARIE "IRENE" SCOTT
SCOTT, MARIE "IRENE" - Of Trenton, Ontario, died peacefully on Sunday, January 17th, 2010 at Trenton Memorial Hospital at the age of 77 after a short battle with brain cancer. Born and raised in rural New Brunswick, she was daughter to Hector and Marie Richard (Thébeau) and one of six children. Growing up she loved the outdoors, animals and was a natural caregiver taking her first jobs helping new mothers and eventually a kitchen assistant in a hospital. It was there, she met her husband, Charlie. A few years after marriage they moved to Ontario to raise their family. Irene worked outside the home for a few years at Vagden Mills, but was first and foremost a devoted housewife and mother. Irene loved to try new things and had a succession of interest over the years including bowling, swimming, playing cards, camping, traveling, needlework and computers. Irene has enjoyed a 23 year retirement with her husband which has included a good deal of travel and a winter home in Harlingen, Texas. She leaves her beloved husband of 51 years, Charlie, her son Dan and his wife Karen of Ottawa; her daughter Anne-Marie and her husband Alan Petrie of Brampton and her four grandchildren Kathleen, Kaylee, Ryan and Nicholas who were among her greatest joys in life. She is also survived by her sisters Elianne Barrieau (Roger) and Yvonne Richard and brothers Gerald Richard (Annoncia) and Zoel Richard (Clara) and three generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her eldest sister Eva. The family will receive friends at the RUSHNELL FUNERAL CENTRE, 60 Division Street, Trenton on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Peter's Church on Friday, January 22nd, 2010 at 11:00 am. Father Brian McNally officiating. Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery.
