STEWARD L. MURRAY
MURRAY, STEWARD L. - 1934-2010 - The death of Steward L. Murray, age 75 occurred at the Georges Dumont Hospital on Saturday, January 23, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Murray Corner, NB he was the son of the late Waldo and Annie (Hayes) Murray. Steward was a fisherman, farmer, a community minded person, and a strong advocate for the fisheries as the President of the BPFA Inc. He was heavily involved in politics and sat on the executive of both the Tantramar Liberal Association and the Beausejour Liberal Association. Steward will be greatly missed by his children: David Murray of Toronto, Gail (Ken) Magee of Lr. Sackville, NS, Kimberley Atkinson, and grandson Evan Atkinson of Shediac, NB. Steward was predeceased by his wife Donna in August, sisters; Viva, Marla Rogers, Louise (Guy) Trenholm, Eileen (Eugene) Cameron, and brothers; Douglas Murray and Lysle (Rachael) Murray survived by sisters Donna (Maurice) Gaudet, Dieppe, Cora (Everett) Parker, Moncton, Joy (Bill) Bubar Hamilton. The care and supervision of Stewards remains have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300). Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at the Murray Corner Church, Murray Corner on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 2pm. Burial service will take place in the spring at the Pioneer Cemetery. A reception will follow the church service in the Church basement. The family wishes to thank the hospital staff, all the Doctors who took wonderful care of Steward and especially Dr. Natalie Grant and Dr. Andrea Wall. The family also wishes to thank friends and family for the love and support they have shown Steward and family during these trying times. Donations can be made to the Murray Corner United Church, the Pioneer Cemetery and the Canadian Cancer Society.
