MURPHY, AVERY LORAN - The passing of Avery Loran Murphy of Fredericton, NB, husband of Irene (Keith) Murphy, occurred on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 26, 1940 in Argyle Sound, NS, he was the son of the late Victor and Almira (Spinney) Murphy. He was a member of the Nashwaaksis Baptist Church. Avery was a Sergeant with the Military Police for 33 years; he finished his working career at Acadia University. Avery was a member of the Masonic Order of the Hiram Lodge #6 F&AM and was a UN Veteran of several tours. In addition to his wife of 48 years, Irene, Avery is survived by his sons, Gregory (Pam) Murphy of Redwater, AB and Troy Murphy of Edmonton, AB; grandchildren, Megan, Jasmine and Courtney; sister, Oretha (Bob) Foresythe of Havelock, NB; brothers, Roy (Joan) Murphy of Saint John, NB and Doug (Gail) Murphy of Moncton, NB; mother-in-law, Lillian Keith of Fredericton, NB; brother-in-law, Delbert (Mary) Keith of Minto, NB; sister-in-law, Shirley (Ken) Murphy of Petitcodiac, NB and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Avery was predeceased by his brothers, Bill and Ashley Murphy and father-in-law, Spencer Keith. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Nashwaaksis Baptist Church on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Ross officiating and Rev. Kevin Culberson assisting. Interment will take place at Havelock Loyalist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
