Passed peacefully away at his home, surrounded by his family on Friday, February 26, 2010, Harry J. Roberts aged 92 years. Predeceased by his son Harry Jr.; brothers: Bruce, Gus, Bobs (Mark), Rex; and sister Irene. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife Dorothy; son Fred (Trudy); daughters: Nancy Hooper (Gary) and Suzan Finn (predeceased by Johnny); grandchildren: Freddie, Dennis, Tracy, Nicholas, Chris, Jenny, Carolyn, Joey, Heather, and Stephen; and very special great-grandchildren: Jack, Ella, Simon, Briar, Noelle and Bronwyn. Also leaving to mourn sisters: Arthura and Margie; brothers: Heber and Wilfred and in-laws: Margaret, Neta, Dorothy, Tom (Anne), Dorothy, Elizabeth and George; as well as a large circle of family and friends. A very special thank you is extended to Harry’s “Angelsâ€: Stella, Jennifer, Louise, Michelle, Carolyn and Rose for all their wonderful and compassionate care. Harry was born on July 17, 1917 in Woody Point, Bonne Bay. He was a World War II Veteran and was a past president of the RCAF Association and the St. John’s Shrine Club. He was also a proud and devoted member of the Masonic Lodge Tasker, Harry had a successful 30-year career as a life insurance underwriter with the Mutual Life Assurance Company of Canada. He was also a past member of the St. John’s Curling Club. Cremation has taken place. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held from The Church of the Ascension, Smallwood Drive, Mount Pearl on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at The Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
