Passed peacefully away at the Masonic Park Nursing Home, Mount Pearl on Friday, February 26, 2010, Bertha May Rowe, age 93 years. Predeceased by her husband Melvin; parents William Andrew and Patience Thistle; brothers Frederick and Benjamin; sisters Millicent, Aceneth, Jennie and Mabel. Leaving to mourn sons: Lionel (Miriam Fraser), Ottawa and Douglas (Eunice), Pasadena; four grandchildren: Kimberley (Jack) Lawson, Glen Rowe, Shelly (Brian) Collier and Penney Rowe (Paul Curnew); nine great-grandchildren; one brother Harold Thistle, Windham, N.H., USA and one sister Vera Stanford, Carbonear; two sisters-in-law Allison Thistle and Angela Marche of Stephenville; one brother-in-law Charles Rawnsley, Lowell, Mass, USA; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday, March 01, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Heart’s Content, Trinity Bay at a later date.
