Erma Brander

Brander, Erma Bida Evelyn - 90, Amherst, formerly of Wallace Bridge, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010, at home. Born in Middleboro, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Truelock and Nellie Blanche (O’Brien) Thompson. Erma had helped with the family farm, assisted her husband with his Co operaterators Insurance business and also his job as treasurer of the Wallace Bridge Credit Union. She had also worked at the School for the Deaf in Amherst for one year and at Locker’s Nursing Home for four years. Surviving are her daughter, Eleanor Fillmore, Amherst; son, Darrell (Karen) Brander, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Joan Fillmore, Oshawa, On; Bill (Fiona) Fillmore, Halifax; Stephen (Jodi) Brander, Moncton, N.B.; Patricia (Myles) Whittingham, Ottawa, ON; great-grandchildren, Avery and Eden; Ethan, Sophie and Phoebe; Nathan and Oscar; sisters-in-law, Josephine MacLanders, Guelph, ON.; Louise (Donald) Teed, Truro; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carl Gordon Brander; sisters, Elsie MacPherson, Dorothy MacPherson, Mildred Douglas and Vera O’Brien; brothers, James in infancy, Everett, Alfred, Eldred and Willis Thompson. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 28, in Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash (243-2506) from where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 1. Rev. Meggin King officiating. Burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Wallace River. Donations in memory may be made to the Riverside Cemetery.
