Florence Marion Gunnarson (nee Anderson)
October 7, 1920 – February 25, 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Mom passed away peacefully, with her family close by, at the Victoria Union Hospital on Thursday, February 25th, 2010 after a brief illness. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 4 from River Park Memorial Chapel. The Reverend Tony Thompson will officiate. Florence was predeceased by her parents, Emma and John Walfred-Anderson, her 3 brothers Willard, Lauren and Herb and one sister Verdna, her husband of 60 years, Gunnar Gunnarson. Left to cherish her memory is her sister Violet of Yorkton, SK; her loving daughter Sharry (Andrew Livingstone) of Ottawa, ON and her son Lyle, (special friend Celine) of Prince Albert, SK, and grandchildren Christina, Laurren, Andrea, Angie, Matthew, Nicole, Justin and Nathan, as well as 12 great grandchildren. Mom was born in Saltcoats, SK on October 7, 1920 of Swedish parents. After marrying Gunnar, they lived in Sudbury, ON and Tisdale, SK before settling in Prince Albert. Florence was devoted to her family and worked for Burkitt’s Flowers for numerous years, was a long-time member of the Rebekah Lodge and volunteered many hours at the Victoria Union Hospital. She enjoyed spending many happy times at the family cabin at Emma Lake. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Interment of cremated remains will take place in the Garden of the Old Rugged Cross, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens following the funeral service.
