Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. L.A. Miller Center on March 1, 2010, Arthur W. Taylor in his 88th year, the only remaining Newfoundland Survivor of HMS Jervis Bay and former employee of the Janeway Children’s Hospital. Predeceased by brothers: Clarence, Maxwell and Cecil; sisters: Mildred Kelly and Inez Briffitt. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 53 years Jessie (nee Pynn); step-sisters: Gertrude Power and Rita Lyall (Gale); special niece Shirley Bradley (James) and their sons: Garry Bradley and James Bradley and their families; nephew Robert Taylor (Madelyn) and their sons: Arthur Taylor, Shawn Taylor and families and daughter Janice Taylor; nieces: Mary Collari (Fred) and Kay Covell of the USA. Also leaving to mourn other relatives, wonderful neighbours and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, March 3, 2010 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 2 p.m. from St. Mary the Virgin Church, Craigmillar Avenue. Interment to follow at the Field of Honor, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur’s memory may be made to the SPCA.
