Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on March 1, 2010, James Whalen, aged 77 years. Predeceased by his wife Bernice Whalen (Hunt), parents James and Gertrude, sister Mary, brothers William and Edward. Leaving to mourn is dearest and loving friend Elizabeth Fagan; sons William (Juanita), Robert (Shirley), Clifford (Karen) and Randy (Jenny); daughters Phylis (Frank Simms), Coleen (Larry Rose) and Elizabeth (Wayne Chancy); brothers Edward, Benedict (Carol), Richard (Ann) and Patrick; sisters Nora (Eric St. Claire), Joan and Bridget; twenty grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Becker and the caring medical team at Harbour Lodge Nursing Home as well as Jim’s family physician, Dr. Linda Ivany. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place from Holy Family Parish, Paradise at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010.
