Baker, Clark Walter - 69 of South Ohio, Yarmouth Co. passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on February 25, 2010. Born July 17, 1940 in Yarmouth, NS, he was a son of the late Donald B. and Elizabeth “Betty†(Pearce) Baker. Upon leaving school Clark spent 18 months at sea before joining the RCN for 5 years, and then returned to sea on various fishing boats for the next 20 years. After giving up fishing he spent 19 years as an addictions counselor and retired in 2001. Clark enjoyed working around his yard and hothouse. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #61, Yarmouth. He is survived by his wife , the former Patricia (Hurlburt); step-daughter, Shelley Nickerson of Yarmouth; step-son, Ritchie (Krista)Nickerson of Hubbards Point; sister, Diane Baker of Yarmouth; brothers, Donald (Anna) Baker of Arcadia and Brian (Paula)Baker of BC; five step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Bobby and Bruce. Visitation was held Friday, February 26 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Sweeny’s Funeral Home chapel, Yarmouth where funeral services took place on Saturday, February 27 at 2pm, Rev. A.D. “Bill†Newell officiated. Interment will be in Chebogue Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Yarmouth North Baptist Church or The Salvation Army.
