SALTER, Theodore Robert “Ted”, age 56, of Windsor. It was with deep sadness that the Salter family announced the passing of Ted, on Friday, February 19, 2010, at his home. Born on February 24, 1953, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Howard and Daisy (Wark) Salter. Ted grew up in Scotch Village, he worked all his life in construction and at the time of his illness, he was an employee of Tilt Pro Ltd., B.D. Stevens. He was an adherant of the Windsor United Church and a member of the Hants County Branch No. 009, Royal Canadian Legion, Windsor. When diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he continued on with his life and his favorite saying became “It is what it is!” Ted was a very quiet, understanding man, who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. His family meant everything to him and he was happiest when helping them do renovations on their homes or being chief cook at all the family barbeques. His Boxing Day meatballs will be sadly missed. Ted is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gwen (McLellan) Salter; son, Michael Salter, Falmouth; daughter, Angela (Charles Fortin), Windsor; sister, Judy Zwicker, MacKay Section; brothers, Stephen (Janet) Salter, Windsor; Kevin (Pam) Salter, Stanley; nephews, Corey (Tara) Zwicker; Brandon Salter; great nieces, Haley and Korri Zwicker, who always brought a twinkle to his eyes. He is also survived by his extended family, Stephen and Susan Underwood, Windsor; Andrew Harvey (Kristyn Anderson) and their daughter Andie, Windsor; Michelle Peach, Falmouth. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by, brother-in-law, Fred Zwicker (2001). Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 21, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010, in the Windsor United Church, 611 King Street, Windsor. The Rev. Bill Gibson officiated, followed by interment in the Scotch Village Community Cemetery, Scotch Village, Hants County. Donations in memory of Ted, were requested to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Pancreatic Research) or to the Scotch Village Community Cemetery.
