The passing of Mary “Norma” (Godin) Dibblee, of Fredericton, NB, wife of Harold Dibblee occurred on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 21, 1922 in Riviere du Portage, NB she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marguerite (St. Pierre) Godin. Norma worked as an L.P.N at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Truro, NS and also with security with K Mart. Norma was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fredericton where she was active with the CWL; she enjoyed participating in other activities within the church as well. She had numerous interests which included: cooking, sewing, tatting, knitting, playing cards, especially 45’s and going to bingo. Norma also enjoyed going on trips, camping, fishing and square dancing. She enjoyed spending time visiting the sick and afflicted and was known for remembering birthdays and anniversaries. Above all she adored her children, grandchildren and dog, “Skippy”. In addition to her husband, Norma was survived by her daughters, Margaret “Maggie” Boutin (William) “Bill” of Glan-Münchweiler (Ramstein), Germany and Terry Lynn “T.L.” Cormier (Jocelyn) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, US; son, Michael Dibblee of Valley, NS; grandchildren, Jonathan “JJ” Dibblee of Valley, NS, Rebecca “Beka” Boutin of Glan-Münchweiler (Ramstein), Germany, Melissa, Danielle and Jenna Cormier all of Ottawa, ON; sisters-in-law, Irene Godin of Beaverbrook, NB, Mauguerite Godin of Saint John, NB and Aurea Godin of Portage River, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Norma was predeceased by her sister, Geralda (Poirier) and her husband, Alphonse; brothers, Arthur, Emery, Leandre, Norman and Leonard; sister-in-law, Maude “Maureen” Godin.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, March 8, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Union Street, on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 2 pm with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Chalmers Hospital Foundation, CNIB or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
