POTTER, Ronald James – 61, of Sandford, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Feb. 28, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born October 26, 1948 in Halifax, he was a son of Phyllis (Algee) Beattie, Berwick, and the late James Potter. Ron worked as a finish carpenter, and for the last 15 years, worked as the maintenance man and carpenter for Lane’s Privateer Motor Inn, Liverpool. He loved hockey, and was a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Besides his mother, Phyllis, he is survived by his two sons, Dean T. Potter and Stacey J. Potter, both of Sandford; as well as a grandson, Ashton J. Potter; as well as his former wife and faithful friend, Debbie (LeBlanc) Murphy, Hantsport. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Sharon (Bill) Claridge, Robert (Mary) Potter, both of Lower Sackville; Perry (the late Helena) Potter, Liverpool; Susanne Potter (Alan McMahon), Wolfville; uncles, Boyd (Marie) Algee, Gary (Marie) Algee; aunts, Betty (John) Obritsch, Joan (Joe) Obritsch, Heather (the late Howard) Gray, Donna (Paul) MacDonald, Beverly (Barry) Demone; nephews, Bill and Troy Claridge, James and Tim Potter, Chris and Ryan Potter; niece, Candice Potter, as well as his former mother-in-law, Maude LeBlanc. Besides his father, James, he was predeceased by an uncle, Ronald (Mickey) Algee; aunts, Carol (Ron) Lane, Paulette Miller (the late Kenneth); step-fathers, Lewis Manning and Thomas Beattie. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held from Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Yarmouth. It was requested that there be family flowers only so memorial donations may be made to The Lodge That Gives or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
