Dean Sinclair Findlay
Dean Sinclair, age 87, of Swift Current, SK passed away on March 7, 2010 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current. The Celebration of Life Service was held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 12, 2010 from the Senior Citizens Activity Center with Steve Findlay as Master of Ceremonies. Music was provided by The Odds & Ends. Everett Hindley read the eulogy. A private family interment service was held at the Remco Sunset Cemetery in Moose Jaw, SK. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Ellen; his children, Linda Mae, Marilyn and Steve (Debbie); grandchildren Elijah (April), Drew (Amy), Rebeckah and Jared; sisters, Billie (Art) and Betty (Morley). He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Gussie and brother Neil. Dean was born on July 8, 1922 at Briercrest, SK. He received his formal education in Briercrest. On March 22, 1947, Dean married the love of his life, Mary Ellen in Briercrest. Dean served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII as a able seaman from 1944-45. Later he worked as a fireman with the CPR and sold Prudential Insurance in Moose Jaw, SK. Together they moved to Swift Current in 1962 where he continued with Prudential Insurance, then operated Comet Cabs. After that Dean became well known for selling Electrolux. Dean was an active member in the St. Andrews and Bridgeway Community churches. He spent years volunteering for the Boy Scouts and participating in Toastmasters. Dean's special interest was people, meeting and talking with them, also bringing out his ever-present guest book for those he met to sign where they were from. He will be remembered for riding his bike about town, often strapped to the back of his car as he lost mobility, then scooting through town on his scooter in later years with flags'a flying.
