Passed peacefully away at Chancellor Park, in the presence of her family on March 12th, 2010, Hilda Janes (nee Squires) aged 86 years. Predeceased by husband William (Bill) 1982; father and mother, Harry and Fanny Squires (Deer Lake); son Allan; sisters, Beryl and Myra. Leaving to mourn her loving sons; Brian (Debby), Colin (Beverley), Derek (Heidi) and Errol (Joanne); daughter-in-law Maria (Seattle, Washington); grandchildren, Brian Jr., Laura, Michael, Matthew, Melanie, Candace, Susan and Mandy; sister Eva; brothers, Walter and Clarence (Bud). As well very special friend, Bill Hammond. She will also be missed by all her friends from the Caribou Legion Manor. Hilda was very active in the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxillary and held many elected offices in the association. A special thank-you to the staff of Chancellor Park for the care and compassion shown to our Mom during her final days. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s. Cremation to take place following family service on Sunday, March 14th. Visitation from 3-9 P.M., Monday, March 15th with funeral service 11 A.M. on Tuesday, March 16th from The Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
