It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Arthur MacDonald of Fredericton, NB on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 18, 1929 in Noonan, NB, John was the eldest son of the late Irven and Minnie (McCoy) MacDonald. John was predeceased by his sister, Marion Mersereau. John worked for Diamond Construction for 40 years and was semi retired for many years. Everyone loved “Johnny MacDonald.” Kind and generous. He always took the time to make everyone feel special. He truly loved his family. A beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and friend. We love you dearly and will miss you. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Crawford) MacDonald; children, Joy McCune of San Diego, California and J. Douglas MacDonald (Deborah) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Heather McCune and Nicholas McCune both of San Diego, California, Jonathan MacDonald (Alicia) of Bristol, NB and Natalie DuBois (Joshua) of The Pas, MB; great grandchildren, Afton, Jack and Ivy MacDonald and Aiden DuBois; siblings, Ruby Thompson (Fred) of Fredericton, NB, Ralph MacDonald (Margie) of Welsford, NB, Elizabeth Larlee (Howard) of Langley, BC, George MacDonald (Loy) and Paul MacDonald (Ardith) both of Fredericton, NB, Kenneth MacDonald (Marilyn) and Thomas MacDonald (Jane) both of Saint John, NB; brother in law, Ken Mersereau of Fredericton, NB and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 2 pm with Pastor John Fournier officiating. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Fredericton Food Bank or a charity of the donor’s choice.
