Joy Elizabeth Rorke
Passed away suddenly at the Leonard A. Miller Centre on August 17, 2008, Joy Elizabeth Rorke, formerly of Carbonear, aged 76 years. A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, she was a very proud English lady who loved horses and animals of all kinds and possessed many fine qualities; kindness, compassion, and always put the needs of others first, and during her recent illness, showed amazing will power and courage. She was a lady we were very proud to call "Mum". Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Winnifred Newton, first husband Charles Webb and second husband James E. Rorke. Leaving to mourn two devoted daughters: Jill of St. John's and Joy (Wilson) King of Salmonier Line; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael Walsh), Willie (fiancee Kathy Woodfine), Nichole (Jason Squibb), Christopher (Vanessa Power) and Kyle; five great-grandchildren: Michaela, Willie, Jaylynn, Madison and Chloe; brother David (Rachel) Newton, Bedord, England, and other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and a private burial service at sea will take place on Monday, August 25, 2008.
