It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Blair Barton, who was currently residing in Kingston, Jamaica.
David was the son of the late W.D. (Bud) and Mabel (Smith) Barton.
He was born in Sydney, graduated from Sydney Academy in 1959, and attended Acadia University.
He spent most of his career in the airline industry starting in Sydney with Air Canada before transferring to Montreal where he held various positions. At the time of his retirement from Air Canada, he was involved with personnel and administration. He did some consulting work for a few years and then went on to work for the United Nations as director of in-flight services with Kenya Airways in Nairobi. Most recently, he was the director of in-flight services with Air Jamaica.
David had a great work ethic and an even greater sense of humour. He enjoyed travelling and he loved people, especially his family and his many close friends.
David will be dearly missed by his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Edgar Hillman and his nieces and nephews including, Arleigh (Margaret) Hillman, Lower Sackville, Diane (Bob) Bellefontaine, Dartmouth, Janice (John) Hanna, Howie Centre, Edgar (Corinna) Hillman, Coxheath and Alison Hillman, Dartmouth. He is also survived by his longtime friend, Robert Zimmerli, who took special care of him in his time of need.
Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his nephew, Darren Hillman in 1984.
Cremation will take place and a service will be held in Sydney at a later date.
