GIFFIN, Shirley Edna - 72, of Sable River, Shelburne County, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Halifax she was a daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Hartlen) Verge. Shirley was a 4H leader and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She liked to knit, crochet, camp and cook. Most of all, Shirley enjoyed her family. Shirley is survived by her husband Stanley; daughters June (Maurice) Martin of Sable River and Dawn Marie (Mark) Davies of Ottawa; sister Barbara (Phillip) MacDonald of Port Joli; brother Ronald (Sharon) of Hunt’s Point and grandchildren Jeremy, Jared, Lindy and Shawn. She was predeceased by her son Gary; sister Beatrice MacLeod and brother George. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, where visitation will be held Saturday, March 20th, 2010 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Judy Cross officiating.
