DEWAR, Carson Ainsley - 75, Upper Brookside, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 28, 2010, in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born September 27, 1934, in Truro, he was a son of the late Hugh and Prudence (Bezanson) Dewar. Carson worked with Brookfield Creamery & Scotsburn Dairy for over 40 years. He loved music, gardening and sports, especially watching and cheering on his favourite hockey team, Chicago Blackhawks. Carson also played hockey well into his 60s and won the league championship in 1996 while playing with the Scotsburn Team in the Colchester Industrial League. Carson is survived by his wife of 53 years, Etta (Staples); sons, Glenn (Susan), Quispamsis, New Brunswick; Bruce (Tracey), Dartmouth; Randy (Sonya), Truro; grandchildren, Philip, Lisa, Brock, Nicholas; sister-in-law, Kay Dewar, Truro; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence, Walter, Creighton, John, Ronald, Ivan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Carson’s family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., today, March 29, 2010, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2010, Reverend Brian DeLong officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Carson’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
