MRS. YVONNE CASGRAIN
On Friday, March 26, 2010, Mrs. Yvonne Casgrain, age 91, beloved wife of Mr. Maurice Casgrain of Prince Albert, SK passed away peacefully at the Herb Bassett Nursing Home. Yvonne was born on July 12, 1918 in Meadow Lake, SK to Hermance and Leon Sergent. Her early years were spent attending school at the convent in Battleford and working in her parent’s general store in Meadow Lake. Yvonne moved to Prince Albert in 1950 when she married Maurice Casgrain and lived an active life as a wonderful homemaker, devoted wife and mother. She spent much of her time volunteering for the Sacred Heart Parish, the Holy Family Hospital, delivering “Meals on Wheels” and working for various causes on behalf on the mentally disabled. She was a wonderful cook who loved to receive family and friends into her home and share stories and good food. Yvonne is survived by her loving family: Maurice, her husband of 59 years and their sons Raymond of Prince Albert and Robert of Edmonton, AB; her nephews Victor (Reta) Sergent, Robert (Helen) Sergent, Marcel (Elaine) Sergent, Paul (Lorraine) Sergent, Maurice (Eunice) Sergent, Richard Dansereau (Lydia), Bob (Carol) Dansereau, Marc Dansereau, Pat Dansereau (Elena) and one niece Lise McKenna (Don); one brother-in-law Marcel Dansereau and numerous other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents; her two brothers Robert and Raymond; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Jules and Sarah Casgrain; her sisters-in-law Orpha Sergent and Marcelle Dansereau. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Mr. Brian Clarke will officiate. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31 from Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 – 4th Avenue West by Reverend Father Maurice Fiolleau. Interment will take place in the Garden of Gethsemane, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. It is the family’s request that those wishing to make donations may do so to the Herb Bassett Nursing Home, Victoria Hospital Foundation, KIN Enterprises Inc. or to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal.
