Angus James MacLean, 75, of Old Route 5, Bras d’Or, and formerly of Kempt Head Road, passed away March 13, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born at Cape North, he was the son of the late Neil and Annie (Petrie) MacLean.
He was a member of Drummond United Church, Ross Ferry, and was retired from Harris and Harris Construction of Sydney.
He is survived by stepdaughters, Debbie (Gilbert) MacDonald, Rosalie (Freeman) MacDonald, both of Sydney, Bernadette (Herbie) Snow, Ross Ferry; stepsons, Maurice, Avery and Liam (Judy), all of Ross Ferry. Also surviving are sisters, Susan MacDonald, Big Bras d’Or, Joan MacDonald, Ingonish, Linda (John) Ardellie, Sydney, Catherine Sykes, Anna (Denis) Gilmore, Lena Risk and Annette Nicholson, all of Hamilton; and his brother, Jimmy (Hope), Westmount; a number of nieces and nephews and his furry friends, Tiger and Sheba.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joan and his sister, Eileen.
Visitation for the late Mr. MacLean will be held Monday, March 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be celebrated Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Drummond United Church, Ross Ferry, Rev. Sean Hancock officiating. Spring burial will be in Drummond Cemetery, Ross Ferry.
As memorials, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Drummond United Church.
