Dora , Cooney (nee Bekkering)
Passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2009 at Extendicare in Moose Jaw. Dora in her 86th year, beloved mother of John, Betzy and Linda, cherished grandmother of Kim, Lisa, Chris, Danny, Tabitha, Michael, Dora-Lee, Chantelle, L J, Steven and Thomas. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother Derek . Dora was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Donna, grand daughter Sarah St. Pierre, and by her sister Jennette. Dora was born to Christian and Betzy Bekkering on her fathers farm near Capri, SK on June 14, 1922. Following her mothers early passing, she moved to Moose Jaw to live with her uncle Klaus and grandmother. As a young girl, she joined the Forces during WWII and was stationed in Trenton, ON. where she met and married Hugh Cooney. She returned to Moose Jaw in 1951 and worked at various jobs while raising her 4 children. Dora Loved playing cards and gardening. She loved being a mom and grandma, and cooking for her family. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 19th, 2009 at Parkview Funeral Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Arthritis society would be appreciated.
