Randle, Gideon Duncan “Dunc”, 82 of Truro, passed away March 19, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Cornwall, Ontario on September 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Alfred and Agnes Rowan (Duncan) Randle of Montreal. Dunc retired from the Royal Canadian Navy and had a second career with Canada Wire & Cable/The Noranda Group. He was an avid sports fan and a faithful supporter of the Truro Jr. Bearcats Hockey team. He was in regular attendance at the Truro Raceway and over the years was the proud owner of a couple of horses. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #26. Dunc is survived by daughter, Carol (Lubin) Bourque; sons, Duncan Gerard “Gerry” (Susan), Ricky (Gayle), Barry & Blair Randle, all of the Truro area; grandchildren, Blair (Karen) Bourque, Halifax, Carla (Jamie) Lavigne of Saint John, N.B., Monica (Cory) Thompson, Calgary, Mary Randle, Toronto and Stephanie Willigar, Truro; great grandchildren, Carter Thompson, Calgary, Owen and Rosemary Lavigne, Saint John, Dayton and Dareus Willigar, Truro; nephew Gary (Ilga) Wells; niece Victoria “Vicki” Wells, Montreal. Dunc was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Vivian “Viv” Randle as well as his sister Margaret Wells of Montreal. Cremation has taken place. A Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26 Tribute Service and celebration of Dunc’s life will take place on Friday, March 20th at 11:00 am in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
