Patricia Margaret (Smith) Sanford, 88, Truro, passed away March 22, 2009 in Williams Country Homes, Hilden.
Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Smith.
Patricia was a teacher in various Truro area schools, with many years spent at Victoria Street School. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to the CWL and the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by daughters Joanne Townsend, Halifax; Betty-Lou (David) Chapman, Truro; Shauna (Ian) MacCallum, Truro, and son John (Luanne) Sanford, Shubenacadie; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister Mrs. Dorothy MacLennan.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband John M. Sanford; brother Harry "Bud" Smith; sisters Rita Rector and Marie Butte.
The family would like to thank the staff of Parkland Estates and Williams Country Homes for the wonderful care they gave to Patricia while she was resident there.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday March 24 in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Funeral Mass will take place at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 25 in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince St., Truro, Father Joseph Thomas officiating. Spring interment in Robie Street Cemetery.
