DYCK - Agnes Dyck, 1918- 2009. Agnes went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 20, 2009, at the Palliser Regional Care Center, Swift Current, SK, at the age of 90 years and 10 months. Agnes was born May 19, 1918, to Bernard and Agnetha Goertzen and was raised in the Wymark area. She married Martin Dyck in September 1937. In 1942 they headed out to Vancouver Island. However they missed the prairies and in 1947 moved to Vanguard, SK, hoping to become farmers, however several bad crops brought that to an end and in 1955, Martin took on the custodial duties at the public school and later on the high school with Agnes helping along side of him. In 1972, they moved into Swift Current where Agnes managed the Salvation Army Thrift Store. She retired in 1980 and moved to BC, but only lasted one year - missing the friendly prairie people. She moved back to Swift Current to the Prairie Pioneer Lodge. Her health started to deteriorate and in 1999 moved to the Heritage Manor in Herbert, SK, and later to the Herbert Nursing Home. In 2007, she was moved to the Palliser Regional Care Center in Swift Current where she remained until her death. Agnes, leaves to cherish her memory her children and grandchildren: son - Martin Luther (Serena) Dyck, Surrey, BC, children - Dean (Brenda) Dyck, Dawn Turner, Jodi (Patrick) Lo, and Jerri (Rich) Harden; Daughter - Vera (Jake) Wiebe, Medicine

She was predeceased by her parents, Bernard Goertzen and Agnetha Goertzen/Rhode and her brothers, Henry (Alice), Peter (Tina), and Frank Goertzen. Agnes was a long standing member of the Gospel Tabernacle in Vanguard until she joined the Salvation Army in Swift Current. Agnes was a hard worker, a compassionate and loving person, and very hospitable. She would often have a whole class of Bible School Students from MMBI for supper. She strived to create a Christian atmosphere in her home. She was always interested in her kids and grandkids. In the end it was hard for her to realize that some of her grandkids had kids of their own! Pallbearers were her grandsons: Robin Wiebe, Elwood Wiebe, Sheldon Wiebe, Dean Dyck, Devin Dyck and Jason Dyck. The service in celebration of Agnes' life was held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the Zion Mennonite Church with Captains Paul and Jennifer Loner officiating.
