Norman MacIntyre, age 74, of Sydney Mines, passed away on March 20, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late James and Annie (MacLean) MacIntyre.
He was a member of Carman United Church and a former employee of the old #3 colliery in Florence. He was also a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 008, Sydney Mines.
He is survived by his son, Norman Jr. (April), Sydney Mines; his former wife, Loretta Jessome; sisters, Naomi MacDonald, North Sydney, Liz Axeworthy, Florence, Effie MacLean, Sydney Mines, Tena (Wallie) Gracie, Alder Point, Margie Wall, Sydney, Sharon (Vince) Garnier, North Sydney, Billie (Sue), Halifax and Norman Rigby, Winnipeg. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Norman Thomas, Kaitlyn Dominica, Nicholas and Tanya.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Norma Ann; by brothers, Kenneth and Angus and his sister, Katherine Marks.
There will be no visitation by request. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home officiated by Pearl Miller. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
