84 of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia died on March 24, 2009 at Dartmouth General Hospital. He was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on April 24, 1924, the son of the late E. Frederick and Katharine (Kendall) Peters.
John was the epitome of the word gentleman. A graduate of TUNS, he dedicated his career as a PEng to the Federal Government Hydrology Department in Halifax. He loved golf at Brightwood, Tuesday Bridge, Grace United, and all that Neptune and Symphony Nova Scotia had to offer. Friends and colleagues are saddened by his passing.
He is survived by his sister, Marion (Peters) Scott, Ontario, brother David, Newfoundland, brother, James (Penny), Ontario, nieces, nephews and godchildren. He will be deeply missed by John F. Peters (Bedford).
The love of his life, Irene (Cooper) Peters, predeceased John in November.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Stephen Fram will be held tonight, Thursday, March 26, 7:00 p.m. at Mattatalls Funeral Home, 217 Portland St. Dartmouth. Memorial Service 2 p.m. Monday, Barrett’s Funeral Home, NL followed by interment in St. John’s at a later date.
