Eleanor Catherine Finney passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, following a brief illness.
Born in Moncton, April 18, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Lila (Langille) Johnston.
During the Second World War she was employed with the Department of National Defense at Sydney, N.S. Naval Base and later joined the staff of J.B. Brennan Investment Co., Sydney, N.S. She was active in the CWL in Sydney and in Moncton.
Eleanor and her late husband Eric enjoyed trailoring for many years.
She is survived by sisters, Betty Wallace (Peter), Maxine Johnston, Katherine Breau (Fred); brothers, Frank (Francis), Joseph (Janice), all of Moncton, stepson, Bryan Finney (Ann), Ottawa; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, as well as eleven nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Eric Finney, sister, Marion Creaghan, Miramichi and stepdaughter, Carol Ann Chisolm, Antigonish, N.S.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation Friday, March 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, Fr. Bernard Sloan officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
