RANKOUSSY (MacPhee), Betty – 89, Central Onslow, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, March 26, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born October 28, 1919 in Bourkes, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Ole and Gudrun Carlson. Betty and her second husband, Joseph “Joe”, owned and operated Joe’s Restaurant on Waddell Street for many years. The last surviving member of her immediate family, Betty is survived by her son, Kenneth C. “Ken” (Judith) MacPhee, Lower Sackville; daughters, Carol MacPhee, Central Onslow; Sharon MacPhee, Truro; grandchildren, Gregory MacPhee, Kimberly Theodis, David and Cindy Landry, Lorraine Crowe, Connie Martin, Matthew and Marla MacPhee and Tara Burke; 14 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Cecil Kenneth MacPhee; second husband, Joseph Rankoussy; sons, Mark Reuben Francis and Brian Walter MacPhee; grandchildren, Wendy and Dale Landry; sister, May Neilsen; brothers, Clifford and Olef Carlson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, March 30, 2009, Reverend Lori Ramsey officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Saint Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Centre Rawdon. Family flowers only.
