Passed away at Toronto General Hospital, March 26, 2009, due to complications from diabetes.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Ben and Claire Coffie.
Alex served with the Canadian Armed Forces in Germany and was a veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by a brother, George in Toronto; a sister, Elizabeth Wyatt in the USA; many nieces and nephews, mostly in Sydney, N.S.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary ‘Minnie’ Warner, Theresa Stables and Marcelene Coffie in infancy; brothers, Bennie, Daniel, Richard and Joseph.
Cremation has taken place in Toronto. Services will be held at a later date in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
