It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of VIOLA MARIE (VI) GLASSFORD (nee: Walter) on March 24, 2009 at Pioneer Lodge. She was born December 5, 1920 in the Dundurn district to George and Matilda Walter. Vi attended Nutana College in Saskatoon and received her Teachers Certificate from Saskatoon Normal School. She started her teaching career at the age of nineteen years at Tweed School in the Wallard district teaching grades 1-12. She was Past Regent of the Jarvis Bay Chapter of the I.O.D.E., Charter Member of the Moose Jaw Lioness Club and a member of St. Andrew’s United Church. Vi loved music, dancing, bridge, and playing the piano as well as time spent with the grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents and brothers: George Jr. in infancy and Dr. Elmer, Vi is survived by her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Syd, son, Bob (Deb), daughter, Vicki (Doug) Blane and five grandchildren: Jed Glassford, Jill Glassford, Melissa (Brett) Moore (nee Blanc), Matthew Blanc and Nadine Blanc. The family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful care Vi received fro the staff at Pioneer Lodge over the past eight years and to Dr. Luhning. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will officiate. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to Pioneer Lodge 1000 Albert St., Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2 or St. Andrew’s United Church, 60 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0L2.
