87, New Waterford
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marguerite McIntosh, 87, of Murray Avenue, New Waterford, on March 30, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Laura (Petrie) Hennessey. Marguerite was a woman of strong faith who was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church, New Waterford. A woman of quick wit who told it like it was, she loved to bowl, play darts and cards, and sing. Her greatest love, however, was that of her family.
Surviving are daughters, Donna (George) Roy, London, Ont., Anna (Carl) Skinner, Carol McIntosh, Elizabeth McIntosh, all of New Waterford; sons, Terrance Jr., Henry (Florence), Charlie (Sharon), Russell, all of New Waterford, Francis (Susan), Nfld., Joseph, Calgary; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her loyal companion, her dog, Panda; several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of the Hennessey family.
Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, Neil Terrance; daughter, Carmel Longphee; sisters, Helen, Annie, Clara; brothers, John, Henry, Burtie, Arthur, Francis and Raymond; six grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Marguerite will be held Friday, April 3, at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Michael Church, River Ryan, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date. Following the funeral mass, there will be a luncheon held at the family residence on 3517 Murray Ave., New Waterford.
