It is with heavy hearts we regret to announce the sudden passing of our dear mother Anna Shirley Parks (McKee), 54, on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family.
Born in North Sydney, Oct. 3, 1954, she was the daughter of the late James (Nudge) Parks and her biological mother Shirley (Boutilier) Parks.
Anna was a caring mother, grandmother, sister and a dear friend to many. She could be seen almost daily out for a walk through the main street in North Sydney. She also loved a good cup of tea either at her table or at a friends. But what gave her the greatest joy was spending time with all of her grandchildren.
Anna leaves behind her mother, Vivian Parks; her sons, Ross McKee (Sabrina Howell), Ronnie (Leanne) McKee; daughter, Jessica McKee (Troy Skinner), all of North Sydney; six grandchildren, Chelsea, Shirley, Brandy, Isabella, Noah and Emily; her sisters, Jessica (Rick) Hudson, Annapolis Royal, Betty (Dale) MacKnight, Moncton, Levina (Graham) Mulholland, Sydney Mines; her brothers, Ronnie Parks, Charles (Joy) Parks and Jimmy Turner, all of St. Catharines, Ont. Anna also leaves behind life long friends, her second family as we call them, the Burkes — Sandra, Neats and Monica, as well as great friend, Karen Rice. Although they were divorced she had become great friends with ex-husband, Ross McKee, who was a great help to her with her dog, Newman.
Visitation for Anna will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral Mass to be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Anna may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
