Aged 91 years of Athol Road, Springhill, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2008, in The Halifax Infirmary, Halifax. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Jordan and Ella May (Simmons) Churchill. He was an adherent to St. Andrews Wesley United Church, Springhill. All of his working years were spent in the coal mines, surviving both the Explosion and Bump. Following his retirement he enjoyed carpentry, fishing, hunting, his family and friends. He is survived by sons, Glendon (Catherine) Churchill of Valley Road, Cumb. Co. and William (Evelyn) Churchill of Heather's Beach, Cumb. Co.; daughers, Dwana Churchill and Edith (Michael) Ripley both of Springhill; sister, Violet Hunter of Amherst; thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Alma McCarthy and his second wife Helen Booth; one infant son; brothers, Myles, Walter, Robert, Alexander and Frank; sisters, Laura, Elizabeth, Isabel, Beatrice, Clara and Roxanna. Visitations were held 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 on Sunday, February 3, 2008 in A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, from where the Funeral Service was held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 4, 2008 with The Reverend David Lloyd-Pearce officiating. Burial in Leamington Cemetery, Cumb.
