Aged 68, Amherst, formerly of River Philip, Cumberland Co. It is with great sadness that the Dickie family announce the passing of our dearest Gene on Saturday, July 26, 2008. Born in Bern, Switzerland, on May 3, 1940, he was the son of the late Eugene Moest Sr. and the late Edith (Luscher) Moest. He was also predeceased by sister, Edie Dykens, and nephew, Ronald Wade Dykens. He is survived by his loving sister, Susan (Floyd) Dickie, nephews, Michael (Laura) Dickie, Darren (Shannon) Dickie, and Greg Dickie; brother-in-law, Glen Dykens; niece, Sherry Wheaton and family. He will also be greatly missed by great-nieces, Julia and Hannah, and great-nephew, Austin, all of whom Gene loved to spend time with. Gene had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed being active and spending time with his friends and family. He spent his early years working at the Cobequid Lumber Mill and then at the family farm until he retired. Visitation took place from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 with funeral service held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 2 p.m., both in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, K. Ruth Gamble officiating. Burial took place in Glenville Cemetery with reception following at the River Philip Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene's memory may be made to the LA Cumberland County Animal Shelter, IWK Health Centre Foundation or a charity of your choice.
