SACKVILLE, N.B. - The death of Albert Joseph Lorette, age 85, beloved husband of Marjorie (Estabrooks) Lorette, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, Feb. 26. Born in Middle Sackville, he was a son of the late Camille and Eva (Bourque) Lorette. Albert enlisted in the Canadian Army in World War II and served an additional year before taking his discharge in June of 1946. He was employed with J.L. In 1963, Albert and partner Don Read purchased the hardware business of Joe Mills and one year later, on April 1, 1964, they opened R&L Hardware at the former Sackville Paper Box Company and became one of the first Home Hardware dealers, R & L Hardware Ltd. The business was sold to the Payzant family in May of 1976 and Albert continued working for Larry Payzant for a few more years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, former member of the Sackville Golf and Country Club, Sackville Curling Club and Bulmer's Pond Fishing Club. He especially enjoyed motorcycling, golf, camping and gardening. A lover of animals and birds, he was always concerned for their welfare.
